Propósito del cargo

As the NOLS Patagonia Director you will provide leadership in all aspects of NOLS Patagonia operations in support of NOLS’ mission and strategic goals, and potentially supervise another NOLS location. You will represent NOLS in all aspects of campus.

Descripción

  • Responsible for building budgets and managing spending for locations under their supervision (operating expenses exceed USD 2 million annually).

  • Responsible for asset planning and care of NOLS campus properties including land, buildings, vehicles, and inventories.

  • Lead operational activities including staff structure, course offerings and program scheduling, course logistics, annual budgets, and long-term asset planning.

  • Hire, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate campus support staff. Create an inclusive and welcoming environment.

  • Oversee Spanish NOLS programming in Chile.

  • Ensure a rewarding experience for students by providing accurate information in advance, outstanding student service, welcoming atmosphere, quality program, and incorporation of student feedback.

  • Assure high quality staff service including thorough briefings and debriefings, providing accurate information in advance, exceptional field staff supervision, and review of staff feedback.

  • Risk management oversight for field programs, including emergency response, management of evacuations, and incident reporting.

  • Work with student behavior challenges and separations including intervention and family contact.

  • Plan and supervise acquisition, maintenance, and safety of campus facilities, vehicles, equipment, and supplies.

  • Foster a creative and flexible approach to addressing unpredictable enrollment trends, and demonstrate willingness to explore new programming.

  • Strive to make NOLS Patagonia locations fun, supportive, and fulfilling places to work.

  • Manages Chilean and other location accounts.

  • Assure compliance with local laws and business procedures.

  • Represent NOLS to the public, including the local community, government officials, and other business contacts. 

  • Supervise community relations priorities and orient local staff to develop and maintain best possible relations with government agencies, partnering organizations, and other important national and regional stakeholders.

  • Develop regional business opportunities for NOLS Patagonia campuses.

  • Act to protect and advance our wilderness classroom access.

  • Work with foundations to obtain grants for Spanish NOLS programming in Chile.

  • Help NOLS foster a strong local presence in Chile.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with other NOLS departments and locations.

  • Participate as part of a school director and operations team to exchange knowledge, support, and enhance the school’s overall program and mission.

  • Advance and gather input for school-wide leadership initiatives at the local level. Act as a representative of operations to audiences beyond the NOLS Patagonia locations.

  • Communicate NOLS vision and state of the school to staff. 

  • Keep school directors abreast of changes in the business environment that affect NOLS Patagonia locations.

  • Perform special projects and duties as assigned by NOLS Expedition Operations leadership.

  • Physical plant planning, construction, and maintenance oversight.

  • Experience in staff supervision and budgets management

  • Requires a dedication to public relations and vision for expanding the reach of the school’s mission regionally. 

  • Able to work independently and lead campus location teams, while remotely accessing schoolwide resources. 

  • Interest in working collaboratively with other NOLS directors 

A solid understanding of NOLS Patagonia operations, while not required, would add value to our team and support continuity for students, staff, and faculty during this transition.
